Ras Shangani ( Shangani Point ) area, Old ( Stone ) Town, Unguja Island, Zanzibar.
In the middle with a pool and small jetty is Park Hyatt Hotel, the old
Unesco Heritage building called Mambo Msiige, used to be Attorney
Generals Office and Residence as well as Registrars and Archives
Office. Mr. Eric Stevens was AG then until 1964
who was transferred to Seychelles after 64.
To the left is extension of Hotel on the former Sailing Club premises.
After the little garden / open space to the left is Tembo Hotel, the iconic Tembo house.(not visble).
To the right third building from the pool , the multi story building is Serena Hotel, owned by Agakhan.
Its occupies the old British ETC - Electric Telegraph Co - later Cable
and Wireless, another historical building in the earliest
administrative area of Zanzibar.
My ancestors and family were living in this area until late 30s.
